Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the US right now.The sport has been around since 1965 but has more recently gained popularity because it’s easy to learn and fun for all levels and ages of players.Pickleball actually has nothing to do with pickles – it’s a paddle sport that is played on a court similar to tennis, but smaller. It’s played with a hard paddle and a ball similar to a whiffle ball.Pickleball provides a way for people of all ages to stay active and enjoy the competitive nature of sports. The sport is most popular among the retired age group but gaining more popularity with the youth as a sport that can be played with young and old together. Currently, Laurel, Montana, does not have any Pickleball courts. The goal is to raise funds to put 2-4 courts in a city park.Because the City of Laurel does not have the funds for the project, the responsibility rests on community members to come up with the funds. Please consider donating to the Pickleball Courts Project so that the community of Laurel has a place to play Pickleball and promote the continued health and wellness of our citizens.
